Job Description

Job Duties:

  • Prepares documents such as bill of lading, commercial invoices, ASNs and others in advance of shipment.
  • Reviews shipment contents and verifies records (manifests, invoices, orders, etc.) are accurate.
  • Contacts carriers to make arrangements and issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
  • Records shipment data including weight, charges, damages and discrepancies for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes.
  • Obtains freight quotes and provides to the Sales team upon request.
  • Manages the put away process and entry of goods into the ERP system so that all stock items are put away by the end of each day.
  • Packs, seals, label, and affixes shipping documents to prepare materials for shipping.
  • Complies with all safety requirements and maintains a safe work environment.

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years domestic and export shipping experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Three years experience using web-based carrier software and ERP system
  • One year forklift experience
  • One year of experience operating an overhead crane
  • Strong knowledge of logistics and trucking processes
  • Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Proven basic math skills
  • PC proficiency using Word, Excel, and Outlook

Physical Requirements:

Continuously required to stand. Frequently required to walk and use repetitive hand/wrist motion. Occasionally required to twist/turn, stoop/bend, push/pull, squat, reach overhead and use forearm rotation. Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Vision corrected to near 20/20 required.
