UNIVAC® Vacuum Lifters are designed for efficient, one-person operation in lifts of semi-porous and non-porous material. Unlike magnets or edge grabs, vacuum units will not mark or scratch material surfaces or edges.
Nominal Surface Area Applications
UNIVAC® designs vacuum lifters for nominal applications. These vacuum lifters include Single Pad - Standard Duty, which can be used for lightweight material with a small square-shaped surface, and Single Pad - Heavy Duty, which is made to be used when the surface area is at a minimum. Please note that Single Pad - Heavy Duty can be used for large or small capacities.
UNIVAC® also designs vacuum lifters that can be used for more narrow applications. We supply Standard Duty and Heavy Duty Twin Pad Load Beams, which are used for lifting smaller rectangular-shaped material. Caldwell also offers UNIVAC®’s Standard Duty and Heavy Duty variants of the Load Beam with Four Inline Pads, which is best suited for lifting long, narrow materials.
Caldwell offers a variety of UNIVAC® equipment designed for wide lifting applications. For example, Twin Crossarms with Four Pads allows for extra stability while reducing the amount of deflection for thinner materials. We supply Triple Crossarms with Six Pads for lifting long, wide, and moderately weighted material as well as provide increased support of thin material. Lastly, our Quad Crossarms with Eight Pads are designed for lifting longer, wider, and heavier material (while increasing support of thin material). All crossarms come in standard and heavy-duty variations.
Caldwell provides standard and heavy-duty UNIVAC® 90° Tilt Upender/Downenders for lifting and 90° rotation. This rotation can be used for assembly areas, vertical storage, inspection, and glass handling applications.
Mechanical Vacuum Lifter
The patented, revolutionary design of our vacuum generator requires no electrical or air line connections, just hang it on your hook and go! This is an economical solution for a wide range of applications where bringing power to the lifter is not practical or feasible—even the warning system requires no power. This virtually maintenance-free design conforms to ASME standards.
For specialty applications, Caldwell recommends UNIVAC® Side Grab Manipulator Vacuum Lifters, which are designed to be manipulated up to 180° for production, inspection, and assembly applications. We also supply UNIVAC® Variable Size Sheet Vacuum Lifters, which are designed to handle the wide range of steel plates typical in a shearing operation.
Uniclamp™ Hold Down Clamps
The UNICLAMPS™ has proven to be invaluable in transportation industry applications. These easy to position clamps are ideally suited for sheet and light plate fabrication. Lightweight UNICLAMPS™ is used to secure “skin” materials to ribbed structures at aircraft, aerospace, bus, trailer, and truck manufacturing facilities. UNICLAMPS™ feature capacities from 1,200 lbs to 10,000 lbs.

Caldwell Upholds to Industry Standards
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) has developed standards that apply specifically to the devices Caldwell® designs. ASME B30.20 provides detailed information on the classifications, marking, construction, installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and operation of below the hook lifting devices. ASME BTH-1 provides detailed information on the design criteria of below the hook lifting devices. ASME B30.9 provides detailed information on the fabrication, markings, usage, inspection, and maintenance of lifting slings. These standards serve as a guide to government authorities, manufacturers, purchasers and users of lifting devices.
