CUSTOM BUILDS

    1. What should I do if I have a special or custom lifting application, and need a customized lifting device?
Building custom equipment is Caldwell’s specialty and we’re ready to help you find the lifting device that’s exactly right for you and your specific use. And because we want to make it easy, we’ve got options for you here, too.
      • For straight-forward modifications to a common lifter, check our SmartSpec Online Configurator tool first. For instance, if you want to add a spread to a Model 20 lifting beam or increase the capacity of a Model 82 Coil lifter, SmartSpec lets you plug in your specifications for capacity, spread, length, etc. and it will generate a quote, complete with drawings, in minutes instead of days. It’s the fastest way to get customized equipment. With 16 of our best-selling lifters already there, and more being added, you can use SmartSpec to get quotes 24/7/365.
      • Or if full custom is what you need, let our technical service reps and engineers get to work for you. Give us a call at 815.229.5667 or email us at contact@caldwellinc.com and we’ll start to gather information. If you want to get a head start, fill out one of our online evaluation forms which jumpstarts the conversation because you have already gathered the most pertinent info, so our team can get to work quickly.

    2. How long does it take to build a custom lifter?

Without all of the specifications for your build, there is no good way to give you an answer on how long it takes. The most important step in the process Is, in fact, gathering all of the information from you that not only details what the intended load is, but also includes things like what happens in the steps before and after the lift, if we’ve ever built something similar in the past, what your deadlines are, what raw materials or components are available, how long it takes for the approval processes or revisions along the way, and so much more.

The thing we can say with confidence is that we’d put our team of technical service representatives and on-site engineers up against any in the lifting business. Caldwell has been producing custom lifters for most of our 70 years and are the most-trusted resource for the lifting and rigging industry. Maybe you just need some length added to a standard lifting beam, or maybe you need us to build a transport carriage for a space ship, or maybe you need to lift an elephant … we’ve done it all and can’t wait to help you find a solution to your lifting problem.
